Tourists

Saturday History tour with Desi and her boys! What a fun adventure. This was our first time up to these sites too. So for the exception of Far West where I had gone with youth conference last year we had to guess our way around some back roads. I know there are paved roads to most of these places (not Haun's Mill) but we ended up on a dirt road to Far West also. We all had a great time. The kids watched movies in the car in between sites. It only took us a few hours to see every thing and it was way worth it!

Far West.
Here we had a picnic lunch and walked around the temple grounds. There is a very peaceful feeling around this area. And is is a beautiful drive out there. Too bad the trees don't have any leaves yet. But it was still pretty

After Far West we drove to Haun's Mill. It is only about 10 miles or so from Far West, but we were pretty close to being completely lost. I knew it was down a dirt road but we kept driving and driving and weren't seeing any signs or anything. How crazy. Even when Zach looked up our location on GPS all we saw were little streams and a railroad track that we knew we had crossed. Even on the paved road the GPS told us we weren't on a road. Just that we were in the middle of nowhere. After driving til the road "U" ended at a T we went one way and didn't see any thing so we turned around and went the other way. AT Last a sign to tell us we were going the right way. After Far West, Haun's Mill is a little bit of a disappointment as all there is is this sign and a stone with some writing on it that we couldn't read very well. When it isn't so muddy you can hike around up here, but today it was so muddy that we just took a few pictures at the sign and all piled back into the car. The most exciting part about this sight was the drive there.

A funny quote by Carter
"Mom I see the bullets from the mob, look at the sign."
(if you look up close to the sign you can see someone has shot at it)
We smiled and told him the sign was put up long after the event had occured someone else had come and shot up the sign.

Adam-ondi- Ahman
This was the last stop on our little Tour
What a beautiful place. I'm sure its even prittier in the Spring time when the trees and grass are green. We sure had fun visiting all of these history sites and learning about all that happened there.

The boys all found sticks here and were writing thier names in the gravel. Some how the sticks talked thier way into the car and ended up back at home with us.
