Baseball
Who loves baseball? Dylan and Carter have been asking to play baseball. So instead of soccer this spring we signed up for baseball. It seems it may be taking over our lives. We have 2 days of practice a week. One for Carter and One for Dylan, then on Saturdays they both have practice. Zach is also playing softball again and practices on Saturdays. So being the first week of everyone having practice on Saturday all back to back we spent 3 1/2 hours at "practice" on Saturday. It was so much fun to watch their faces light up as they hit the ball. Carter has been a little nervous lately playing a new sport and all. Mostly it is new to him and he doesn't have the confidence quite yet. But they were practicing hitting and it was his turn. I really wanted him to get at least one hit to help him build his confidence and was watching closely as he stepped up to home plate. The first pitch came, and he hit it! a second again another hit, third hit again... He got 7 pitches and only missed two. I can't tell you which ones he missed as I was amazed at how well he was doing. The other boys had hit quite a few pitches too, but I think his average 5/7 was one of the best. You can bet Zach and I were quite proud at that time. Dylan and Carter both had a chance to practice 1st base on Saturday and did quite well there too.
Carter batting.
(I said yeah! Carter got a hit to Kendall and she got really worried. I had to explain to her that he hit the ball and that he didn't get hit by the ball after that she thought it was a pretty "cool" phrase.)
If 3 1/2 hours of baseball isn't enough for you we also decided that for our "birthdays" (Zachs and I's are only about 14 days apart, we headed down to the Royals stadium for the Red Soxs game. I say Red Soxs because that is really the reason we went. To see the Red Soxs play The Royals had won the night before but the Soxs won the night we were there. The kids had a great time and seemed to pay attention through most of the game. We got home after 10 pm we had left for our first practice of the day around 11:30am so we had a full day of baseball.
I think we are loving it. At least the beautiful baseball weather and a good excuse to sit outside and enjoy it all day long.
Kendall's chore is to take out the recycling to the garage when it gets to be too much upstairs. I had it all ready for her when she woke up from her nap. I asked her to do it and she happily grabbed her bag to head off down the stairs, however we continued to talk and after a minute she said to me, "mom, I can't talk right now, I have to take this bag to the garage and I will talk to you when I get back, ok?" I was so suprised at her statement that I just had to take her cute picture to put with this memory so she waited patiently as I hurried and grabbed the camera to take her picture once or twice.
Caden knows exactly where the girls go when they aren't in the living room. And the second they disappear he heads off. The other day he woke up first and tried to go down the hall about 100 times before the girls woke up. I would follow him half way down and then tell him the girls were sleeping and they would be out soon. He was not detoured. At least he knows what he wants
Tent making
In order to mop the kitchen floor I need to move the chairs out of the kitchen I also need to distract 2 little girls and keep them busy while I do it. Hence using the chairs to make a tent that they can play in while I mop works really well. I took pictures this time. They really have a good time playing in there together.
Easter
I know Easter was a while back but we did celebrate it mostly in our pajamas watching conference. We also dyed eggs and played with toys from our Easter baskets but there weren't many pictures to go with it.
