Dylan's Birthday

Happy Birthday Dylan!

I can't believe he is 7 years old. Has been so excited for this day. I think this is the first year we have had a "real" party for him where we've invited friends and really planned one. Normally we just pick up a friend or 2 and go out somewhere. But this year he wanted a real party. Unbeknownst to me he planned it with his best friend Ammon his friend from Church who he played baseball with also. Thursday night as we were talking he asked me. "Mom, why isn't Ammon bringing his lazer tag guns?" I told him we had planned to do the slip and slide. He said he wanted BOTH. So I called up Ammon's mom and had her pack the lazer tag guns they had so that we would have a total of 12 guns ready to go.

The lazer tag guns have sure been a great investment and the kids still love them!

Then we ate some dinner. Hot Dogs and chips.

Another game of Lazer Tag

k

Time for Cake and Ice Cream before Zach had to run off to his softball game. (Which they won!)

if you look close Zach is holding a blow torch which he used to light the candles on Dylan's cake.

True to everything Dylan does right now he had a baseball cake and Zach even set up the candles in their correct positions.

Presents...

After Presents we did water balloons!

We got a big huge piece of plastic instead of a traditional slip and slide for the hill. Needless to say they all had a good time and my prayers were answered that no one got hurt. Even with about 11 people going down this crazy slide all at once!

All in all I think Dylan had a great birthday. At least he says he did.

After cleaning up the kids all grabbed their sleeping bags and headed down stairs to the new family room. While finishing the basement Kendall has kept telling us she is moving down stairs. Every time we would remind her that it was going to be Carter's room she still insisted that we put her bed down there. Since Carter started sleeping down there she has been begging to sleep down there too. We told her Friday night she could have a camp out in the basement with her brothers. So here they are all tuckered out "Camping" in the basement.

Summer Play

We always have something to do in our down time between everything else. This week we squeezed in some Lazer tag and slip and slide down the hill. (Because it is so much more fun to slide down the hill)

Mini Vacation!

Sunday

Heidi and John flew in late Saturday night to spend 3 days with us. We were so excited. They got here about 10pm and we stayed up until almost 1 talking. Early the next morning we went to church so that Zach could teach his Sunday School Lesson. On the way home we talked about how we were going to squeeze in all the fun we had planed for Saturday, Sunday, Monday and 1/2 of Tuesday, into just Sunday Monday and Tuesday? We opted for skipping our Sunday plans going back and doing Saturday plans and then continuing on with Monday and Tuesday. Hence our Sunday afternoon was spent like this...

Watching Marmaduke at the "Dark" Theater as Kendall would call it.

Boys playing x box.

Girls painting our toes.

And all going out to dinner...

Olive Garden YUM YUM...

waiting for our table.

Monday

Oceans of fun. Boy did we have fun too. Kendall and Dylan just loved the wave pool. They both put on life jackets and away they went. As long as I wasn't holding her she was allowed to swim where ever she wanted as far as the lifeguards were concerned and she loved going out past the blue line where she could just float up and down the waves. At one point I reached out and grabbed her hand to pull her back closer to me. Oops. "Mom, don't touch me I can do it by myself" was her response. Dylan was just about a 1/2 inch too short to ride all of the rides. They turned him away from one, but another one I took him on and when they went to measure him I had him stand on the low board that had a high one behind it. and then the life guard told him to take a deep breath and I pulled up on him just a little bit and they let him pass and go down. That was so much fun. He and Carter went down that small group of 3 slides about 5 times. Mom and Heidi and John couldn't quite keep up. Although John tried. Carter loved the whole place and had a great time running up and down the slides and swimming all day.

That evening we got to watch Dylan play one of his last baseball games. His last one was actually the next night.

We rented a Red Box and made Brownie Fruit Pizza for dessert after BBQ Hamburgers and chips for dinner.

Tuesday

Heidi and I went to get pedicures and decided that it would be our new tradition to do when ever we see each other.

Then we all had Olive Garden left overs and went swimming up at the pool.

By time we were done there it was time to get Heidi and John home and packed to catch their 4:30.

Thanks Heidi and John for coming out to visit us and enjoy a few fun filled days. We wore everyone out I think. Kendall just couldn't keep her eyes open one more minute and I thought it would be a good idea for her to take a good nap before running off to Dylan's last baseball game that evening.

As Heidi and John got here the same day they finished laying our new carpet Carter's first night in his new bedroom was Tuesday night. We set us his bed while Zach and Kendall took naps.

We've been slowly moving the rest of his stuff down there.

Now that the basement is done and baseball is over I think it is finally time to Breathe. We are taking July off to relax... I might have to look up the meaning of that word as I may have forgotten it during the month of June.
